Beban Master Plan Open Houses

In an ongoing effort to update and improve Nanaimo's parks system, the City of Nanaimo, Parks, Recreation and Environment Department is hosting open houses to review the draft Beban Master Plan update. The open houses are intended as an opportunity to provide feedback on the Draft Master Plan for Beban Park. The draft plan presents a framework for future improvements within this central, 130 acre recreation hub over the next 20 years.
Please stop by the Beban Park Social Centre on Wednesday September 24th 4-8pm AND Saturday Oct 4 12pm to 4pm to share your thoughts and ideas. The draft plan, information boards and staff a survey will be available at each session. Proposals to develop a batting cage and a velodrome on the park will also be explored.
If you cannot attend the open houses, residents and park users can also find the draft master plan information online at www.nanaimo.ca (search "Beban Master Plan"). For more information on this plan contact Kirsty MacDonald, Parks and Open Space Planner, at 250-755-7506 or [email protected]
The Beban Master Plan is of special interest to Nanaimo Community Gardens Society as it includes a demonstration greenhouse as part of the focus on urban food production. It is important to show broad community support for the greenhouse concept and the idea that showcasing urban agriculture is important for the residents of Nanaimo. Please plan on attending to make your voice heard.
