Celebrate the fleeting summer nights at BEATS in the STREETS, an all-acoustic drum and dance party and benefit!

For the first time in Victoria, a talented and eclectic group of percussion-based ensembles will be performing at one venue to provide an explosive interplay of driving pulses, melodic melodies, and super funky beats.

Featuring the local talents of:
Carnival Band An amazing 33 piece band hailing from Vancouver consisting of brass, woodwinds, drums, percussion, accordions and voice. Their monstrous repertoire includes original tunes based on samba, calypso, swing, afrobeat, jazz, funk, disco, and other traditional music from around the globe. Dont miss the Carnival Band as they swing though Victoria while on tour! www.thecarnivalband.com/carnivalband

Kikeyambay is a traditional West African drum and dance ballet troupe that energizes audiences with their tight percussion rhythms and amazing backup vocals. Featuring Michel Diallo, a master djembe player born and raised in Guinea, with dazzling traditional dance pieces performed by Dancing Moon West African Dance Troupe. www.kikeyambay.com

Uminari Taiko Experience the dramatic drum art that is taiko! Vancouver Islands first taiko troupe took their name from the Japanese word Uminari, or roaring sea, which perfectly invokes both the power and eloquence of this style as well as the spirit of our Islands seas. www.uminaritaiko.com

Masala is Victoria's batacuda-style mobile music mosaic! Masalas unique high-energy sound is inspired by traditional rhythms from West Africa, Haiti, Cuba, Brazil, and the Middle East and is sure to get your feet moving. www.masalaband.com
