Father's Day Weekend is extra special this year with 2 days of activities for 1 ticket price. Beginning with Saturdays sawmill demonstrations and ending Sunday with the Vintage Machinery Society presenting the popular Father�s Day Tractor Show & Parade at the BC Forest Discovery Centre. The event is scheduled for Saturday June 14th and Sunday, June 15th and Dad's receive a special admission rate for the 2 day event of only $3 when accompanied by their children.

Some important times to note for the special activities throughout the weekend:

� The museum opens from 10 am to 4:30 pm.
� Train rides : Our popular steam engine 'Sampson' will be in operation running every half hour from the train station Saturday & Sunday from 10:30am - 4:00pm
� Museum Display: The 1938 Bloedel Fire

Saturday

� Sawmill Demonstrations at 11:15am and 1:15pm

Sunday

� The tractor parades take place at 11:30am and 1:00pm
� The popular slow tractor race is at 1:30pm
� Awards presentations will be held at 2:00pm

Each year the Sunday show attracts vintage tractors from not only the Cowichan Region but also from other Vancouver Island Vintage Machinery Clubs. �Everyone with old tractors is invited to the museum. This year we�re expecting tractors from Nanaimo, Courtenay and Campbell River, and the event continues to grow every year� says Geoff Hopps, event organizer.

Visitors from all over Vancouver Island will enjoy the activities planned for this year�s full weekend event. �We always like to add to the visitor experience and this year we're making it a full 2 days .Saturday with the saw mill demonstrations that are truly impressive and will show everyone how lumber was milled.

Sunday hosts our tractor show & parade, but added to the Sunday activities, is a 'Father's Day Gift Building Event' from our neighbors' at Home Depot� says Chris Gale, Manager of the BC Forest Discovery Centre. �Kids will be able to build a Home Depot gift for their Dad. There a few different kids projects to choose from and only one project per family while supplies last. It�s a fun team building project for the whole family and this year we're thrilled that the Home Depot Team will be on site showing the kids all the tricks of the trade when building their gift for Dad�

Visitors to this year's weekend long festivities will enjoy seeing a working sawmill in action, see a great collection of vintage tractors, the tractor parades, slow races, Home Depot�s Father's Day Gift Building, the concession, and hot off the grill, BBQ'd Hot Dogs and Hamburgers. It�s going to be a great weekend event to celebrate Father's Day with Dad�

The Cowichan Commons Rona parking lot will be available for over flow parking during the weekend with a complimentary shuttle service to and from the Forest Discovery Centre compliments of our friends at Bow Mel.
