Bayanihan Community Centre 10th Anniversary Celebration

The Filipino community in Victoria marks another milestone in November, 2011 when it marks the tenth anniversary of its Bayanihan Community Centre on 1709 Blanshard Street, Victoria BC. The Bayanihan Cultural and Housing Society, Victoria Filipino Canadian Association, Victoria Filipino-Canadian Caregivers Association, and the Victoria Filipino-Canadian Seniors' Association are working extra hard and together to ensure the event is marked with befitting ceremony and celebration.

The celebrations kick-off on Sunday November 6, with a reception at 2 p.m. to which members of the Filipino community, civic leaders, donors, and community supporters are invited. The event will be an opportunity to thank all who volunteer their time and effort to the center and to the various Filipino organizations and those who provide their generous support.

On November 13, the Victoria Filipino-Canadian Caregivers Association is sponsoring a whole-day event starting at 9 a.m. which will include an educational seminar and consular outreach services by the Philippine Consulate in Vancouver.

The Victoria Filipino Canadian Association will host the Open House on November 20, with the added bonus of free entertainment. The Open House on November 27 will be hosted by the Victoria Filipino-Canadian Seniors' Association, who will also hold their regular meeting on the same day.

All activities will be enlivened by photo displays, slide shows, silent auction and raffle ticket sales. The celebrations will come to a close on Sunday, December 4th with the regular Open House, the awarding of silent auction items to successful bidders, drawing of raffle tickets, and other special activities.

Everyone is invited to this special occasion, that marks the tenth year our Filipino community in Victoria has had a home.
