The Bathtub Weekend Launch Party is a 1-day concert festival taking place in Diana Krall Plaza in celebration of Nanaimo's iconic Bathtub Days Festival featuring Platinum Blonde, Bif Naked, The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer, Bend Sinister, Jesse Roper, Kendall Patrick and the Headless Bettys, DJ MikeyMike, a beer garden, and lots more.
PLATINUM BLONDE formed in 1982 and released their first full-length album, Standing in the Dark, in 1984. The album featured four hit singles including the title track “It Doesn’t Really Matter”. Both the song and album were nominated for Juno Awards, while the album went on to be certified triple-Platinum in Canada.
The band’s music videos were placed into high rotation on MuchMusic and within months, Platinum Blonde came to be considered one of the decade’s top bands. Their second album,Alien Shores, went five-times Platinum and produced the hit singles, “Situation Critical”, “Crying Over You”, “Somebody Somewhere” and “Hungry Eyes”.
The original line-up of Holmes, Galli and Steffler has since been inducted into the Canadian Music & Broadcast Industry Hall of Fame. Platinum Blonde released a new album, Now & Never, in 2012 with the lead single “Beautiful”.
BIF NAKED has showcased her eclectic life’s journey through song lyrics. She found her voice as a solo artist, started her own record company Her Royal Majesty’s Records and at 23 years of age became a Platinum and Gold Album-selling International Recording Artist. Throughout her remarkable career, armed with her unique talent and instantly identifiable look, Bif would captivate the imagination of audiences and media alike, releasing ten albums including her self-titled album Bif Naked released in 1996, I Bificus in 1998 and Purge in 2001.
She embarked on seemingly endless international tours, several feature films and multiple television roles, only to be struck down with breast cancer at the age of 37. 2009's The Promise was recorded while Bif was undergoing chemotherapy, and meanwhile the newly married Bif discovered her passion for advocacy, a triumphant return to health and what she cherished most of all--her own resilience.

THE HARPOONIST & THE AXE MURDERER
Armed with an arsenal of harmonicas, a mess of foot percussion, and a road-worn Telecaster, Shawn ‘The Harpoonist’ Hall and Matthew ‘The Axe Murderer’ Rogers kick out raw and primal blues in the tradition of a ‘decades-deep blues style’ (Scott Brown, What’s up Yukon), while infusing the genre with a jolt of renewed energy. Shawn and Matthew have received considerable recognition in the last few years. They have been nominated for multiple Maple Blues Awards and won 'Blues Act of the Year' at the SiriusXM Indies in 2013.
