Moorecroft Regional Park Backstories: The Nanaimo Historical Society invites the public to listen to our guest lecturer speak about the history and transitions of one of the newest parks in the Regional District of Nanaimo.
Tonight’s program will investigate the earlier visions of Camp Moorecroft, beginning with the founding of "Miss Moore's Camp for Girls" in 1934, through the United Church of Canada era (1954 to 2011). Perhaps some of our guests will have personal remembrances as a Moorecroft camper.
About our speaker: Jim Manly is a former United Church clergyman ordained in 1957. Manly also served as a New Democrat Member of Parliament (Cowichan- Malahat-Islands) for eight years in the 1980s. Manly is also a long-time member of the Nanaimo Historical Society.
