Since 2003 Back Porch Swing have been writing songs and performing at festivals and clubs across western Canada. Their hot licks, tight harmonies, and funny lyrics are delivered in ever-changing musical styles that will have you wondering “what don’t they do?”. From square dancing to western swing, from bluegrass to folk, their “cowjazz” flavor will surely leave you a fan.

Penny Malmberg (vocals, guitar, mandolin) is a story-telling, singing, songwriting people person with a contagious zest for life. While she started playing guitar at the age of 13, it wasn’t until her early 40s and her kids were grown that she dusted off her guitar and started writing songs.

Jim Malmberg (vocals, mandolin, guitar) is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist. He has focused on guitar and mandolin, songwriting, and playing bluegrass, old-time music, folk, and early 20th century swing.

Back Porch Swing provides a full band experience, adding the talents of Cam Neufield on fiddle and Kevin Jacobson on bass.
