Josh and Dani, both native to greater Vancouver, initially met at Coachella Music Festival back in 2012. With many mutual friends and strong involvement in the music scene, they garnered an instant connection that developed into a lasting friendship. One year later they attended Lightning in a Bottle Music Festival together, where their love for each other sparked. Josh had been DJ’ing for 15 years and throwing concerts and festivals through his own production company. Dani always wanted to DJ but never found the time as she was busy doing her Master’s Degree and working with athletes as a Mental Performance Consultant. While at the festival, Josh proclaimed that he would teach Dani how to DJ and manifested, with much accuracy, their future together as a DJ duo. After months of practice, their love for each other grew and Average Gypsy was born. The duo gained instant recognition for their mixing skills and teamwork on the decks.

Over the past two years, Average Gypsy has generated a large and loyal following and has carved out a niche for themselves in the underground bass house music scene as one of the only male-female DJ/production duos around. The energy they create together always captivates and fascinates the dance floor. Whether opening for international headliners or headlining their own shows, you can catch them spinning almost every weekend to a packed house in Vancouver. With over 70 local shows and 8 music festivals under their belt in the past year, the duo is also starting to capture the attention of a global audience. They have played several shows in the Southern California region, went on their first U.S. tour in April 2016 and just finished a mini tour in Spain in September 2016.

Average Gypsy is not slowing down anytime soon and has big plans for the future! Not only do these two spend countless hours refining their mixing skills, but they also produce their own tracks. With an ear for the music, the transition into production was natural. Average Gypsy has already released 5 tracks in their first year of producing, three of which have been signed to record labels. Their music can be described as bouncy, 4 to the floor beats, characterized by pretty melodies and deep, wobbly, rolling basslines; heavily influenced by hip hop and the underground bass house music scene. The love and passion Average Gypsy have for their craft and for each other is undeniable and transcends everything they do!
