Learn how a story in Tricia Dower's Shakespeare-inspired collection, Silent Girl, led to her first novel, Stony River, and how that led to her newest novel, Becoming Lin. Silent Girl was nominated for the George Ryga Award for Social Awareness in Literature. Herizons magazine called it "ambitious and powerful." Stony River was shortlisted for the Canadian Authors Association Award for Fiction.
The Globe and Mail wrote, "It's rare to find such a polished debut and Dower is a masterful storyteller to watch."
The Vancouver Sun wrote, "Some of the most powerful and eloquent novelists of the 20th and 21st centuries...including Margaret Atwood, Margaret Laurence and Ethel Wilson...open up what had been cloaked in silence, the oppression of women and their self-discoveries in resistance. We can now add to this important liberation canon the name of Tricia Dower."
