Saturday March 29
The Art of Origami
10:30 AM to 12:00 PM

Nanaimo Art Gallery offers unique art classes and activities for children, ages 5-11 on Saturdays from 10:30am until noon. A fantastic opportunity to engage and inspire young artists!

Lead by guest artist Shino Yoneda, learn how to create monochromatic landscapes using origami! Using only black, grey and white origami papers, make interesting scenes inspired by Takao Tanabes artwork. "Takao Tanabe: Chronicles of Form and Place" is at the campus gallery until April 12. Enjoy a docent-led tour of the exhibition on March 19 or 21 at 1pm with the whole family! A wonderful way to get inspired for this ArtRageous.

Originally from Japan, Shino is a member of the Japan Origami Association and lives in Qualicum Beach. In 2011 Shino led a1000 crane project for world peace in School District 69 and she traveled to Hiroshima for the dedication ceremony. Her teaching is motivated by the hope that we all keep the intention for world peace in our hearts while we fold paper cranes and work toward peace.
