Artist Talk: Bridge Over Troubled Water

Yoko Takashima has established herself at the forefront of technical experimentation in her sound and video installations that often challenge us through their unapologetic intimacy. Takashima teaches in the Visual Arts Department at the University of Victoria. Join us for an illustrated talk covering the development of her newest and arguably most ambitious work, Bridge Over Troubled Water, which involves 37 singers in an ever-evolving installation. Through an overview of her career – one that has consistently focused on her body to explore her place as an individual while also delving into the universalities and depth of human existence – Takashima will help us to put her newest work into context.
