Catherine Lavelle (Courtenay BC � sculpture)

transience + permanence is an exhibit of art by Comox Valley BC based artist Catherine Lavelle and the late Douglas Senft (sculptor/public artist who passed away in September of 2012). This exhibition of installation and related sculptures reflects upon the concept of home and shelter in the context of contemporary life, embodying aspects of home and survival in the natural and manmade world. The exhibition was originally intended to be collaboratively produced by both artists; with Senft�s passing, Lavelle has completed the pieces with assistance from guest artists; friends and contemporaries. Presented in various metals, including bronze, aluminum and steel and developed from their preliminary sketches, the works maintain the intention and spirit of their collaboration.
