Language, Culture, Landscape: Workshop and Tour
We are honoured to welcome Pearl Harris from the Stz'uminus First Nations to share better understandings of Indigenous language revitalization and how Hul'q'umi'num is connected to the land for this upcoming Art Lab Adults event.
We will also explore the web-based tools and support First Peoples' Cultural Council and First Voices to learn creative and respectful examples for including Indigenous language into daily routines and professional practice.
After the presentation, join curator Jesse Birch on a tour of Landfall and Departure: Prologue, and explore intersections of language, culture, and landscape in contemporary artworks like Ojibwe artist Michael Belmore's hammered copper work titled, Alyeska.
