Art History: Romanticism to Realism
add to outlook add to google calendar remind me
When would you say the Modern era began? At the end of the 18th century a few sensitive souls were beginning to sense there was a dark side to Modern progress and colonization, and cast off the cultural preference for Reason. Within a few decades, however, the Romantics were usurped in popularity and gravitas by the Realists. These movements gave rise to the work of Piranesi, Turner, Blake, Fredrich, Goya, and Delacroix; Corot, Courbet, Constable and Degas, to name just a few. Course delivery is through lectures, seminar discussions, readings and student presentations. Suitable for beginners.
