Through its history, the AGGV has received a remarkable number of Asian art donations, which in terms of numbers is now approximately 42-43% of the entire collection. Every five or six years, the Asian art department shows its recent Asian acquisitions. We are indeed fortunate in having great and dedicated patrons in Victoria and across the country as well as the US. This exhibition is in their honour. All these donations over the years have made the Asian art collection of the AGGV the second most comprehensive East Asian collection in Canada (second only to the Royal Ontario Museum).

The Asian art gifts that we have received represent a wide range of cultures, media and time periods.

Exhibition tours led by experienced Gallery Docents occur weekly, on Saturday and Sunday, plus the first Tuesday and last Thursday of the month. Tours are a great way to learn about art history, put our exhibitions into context, and delve deeper into the themes being presented. Included with Gallery admission or free with membership.
