This year's partial day seminar brings a fascinating combination of information and insight into both traditional methods of finding genealogical information, as well as ways and reasons to delve into the new and ever changing world of DNA research.

We are delighted to welcome Dave Obee who will present two sessions.

Dave is a journalist and genealogical researcher who has written a dozen books and given over 600 presentations at conferences and seminars in Canada, the United States and Australia since 1997. He is a highly sought after speaker and an expert genealogist who writes columns for Internet Genealogy magazine and Your Genealogy Today magazine, formerly Family Chronicle.

Dave has also written about family history for Canada's History as well as Your Family Tree in the United Kingdom. Dave is Editor-in-Chief of the Times Colonist in Victoria, British Columbia. He has worked as a journalist in British Columbia and Alberta since 1972.

We are also very fortunate to welcome Susanne Sulzberger, who is a Reference Archivist with the Vancouver Office of Library and Archives Canada’s (LAC) Regional Archival Program since 2009. She graduated from UBC with a BA in Religion, Literature and the arts, followed by a Master of Archival Studies degree also from UBC. Susanne will help us to understand how to find and use the amazing collections of Library and Archives Canada and how their databases can further your research. The library is an amazing resource which holds records on a wide variety of topics including everything from military service, employment, Loyalists, land exchanges, newspapers, censuses, city directories and much more.
