11:00 AM to 6:00 PM

To fulfill its goals to promote Indian culture and to educate the mainstream community about Indian culture, the India Canada Cultural Association of Victoria (ICCA) is co-ordinating the first annual INDIA FEST (MELA). This MELA will start with a Gurn Nanak Dev JI Peace Walk at 10 am. Call us for details.
This MELA will also celebrate a day of great emotion and pride for all Indian people—India’s 63rd year of Independence on August 15, 2010. As Jawaharlal Nehru (India’s first Prime Minister) said on the eve of the first Independence Day “At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom.”
The India Fest (MELA) will be a culturally inclusive event driven and showcasing the Indian community in Victoria. It is an opportunity to allow our flourishing Indian community to celebrate its accomplishments and share the power, diversity and colour of Indian culture with the mainstream community.
This 2-day event will include a main stage for all types of Indian entertainment. It will also feature a menu of mouth watering Indian food and kiosks representing mainly Indian elements. On behalf of the ICCA and the India Fest (MELA) 2010 Planning Committee, we would like to invite you to join us at India Fest and to stand alongside with us as we bring our community vision to reality.
