Author Andrew Scott presents the newly revised and expanded edition of his book "The Promise of Paradise: Utopian Communities in British Columbia." From the Doukhobor farmers to the Brother XII foundation on Vancouver Island, Scott explores the successes and failures of the many idealistic colonies that have appeared across BC in the past 150 years in a lively and informative presentation at Literacy Central (19 Commercial St, Nanaimo) at 5:30 pm on Monday, April 10, 2017. Refreshments will be provided and books will be available for purchace. This event is free and all are welcome!
