Pipelines, Economic Engines and the Petro State
The rapid development of the tar sands, the worlds largest energy project, has changed the political and economic character of the country. Making bitumen Canadas new economic engine also comes with risks and liabilities. As a consequence the proposed Enbridge pipeline, largely a Chinese project, has sparked one of the nations most intense ethical debates. How can Canada morally exploit a dirty resource?
