Amnesty Community Workshop regarding Global Campaign to Stop Torture

The free workshop will be led by Don Wright, an Amnesty International activism coordinator based in Vancouver.
�Torture is never justified,� says Wright. �It�s inhumane and it is illegal under international law, yet it is still used in most countries, by governments that have signed treaties forbidding its use.�
The workshop has been designed to introduce participants to the nature of torture and the measures required to prevent torture in five target countries: Mexico, Philippines, Morocco, Nigeria, and Uzbekistan. Part of the focus will be on identifying opportunities for community outreach, engaging local media outlets, and effective use of social media.
