Aaah, it’s time to slow down and smell the roses. The public is cordially invited to attend a self-guided tour of six beautiful gardens in and around Nanaimo. Each ticket comes with a map and directions. Choose your own route during the 5-hour timeframe.

It’s fun to discover new neighbourhoods as you drive from garden to garden. This year’s properties are in central and south Nanaimo, both urban and rural.

A garden doesn’t need to be big to be beautiful – discover how you can transform a tiny lot into a colourful oasis. On the opposite scale, we have a large garden designed for weddings, with mature evergreens, a stream, and two large ponds with waterlilies and huge butterburs. New this year is a garden designed exclusively for pollinators. Another garden focuses on organic food production. Each property is unique in its own way.

In addition to interesting plants, we have a few surprises. You'll see antique farm tools, artwork, and lots of information about birds. We’re excited to offer two books written by local gardeners, “Bare Dirt, The Mindful Gardener” and “Common Insect Pollinators” (cash only please). Both are available at discount prices, thanks to a subsidy through the City of Nanaimo's ACTing for Climate Together program.

Enjoy complimentary refreshments and door prize tickets at each location. If you prefer not to drive, transportation is available at an additional cost through "Janie's Got a Bus" (250-714-2855 or [email protected]).
