Get on board for the Nanaimo Historical Society where author Glen Mofford presents his latest book, Along the E&N: A Journey Back to the Historical Hotels of Vancouver Island.

Along the E&N reminisces about past – and surviving – historic hotels and resorts that sprung up near the tracks of the Esquimalt and Nanaimo Railway (E&N), laid along the east side of the Island from Esquimalt northward through Nanaimo and up to its eventual terminus in Courtenay-Comox.

Years of northward expansion and development up the Island’s east coast followed the construction of the E&N rail service, opened in 1986. Glen Mofford chronicles the provenances of more than 30 hotels linked by the railway as well as unfolding stories of their proprietors, patrons, and guests across decades of Vancouver Island history – with a few of these hotels’ stories stretching to the present and still unfinished.
