A cornucopia of song .. That’s how you might describe the Allegra Singers’ 2016 winter concert .. Or like a multicoloured Christmas tree at the Empress Hotel!

Of course, there will be a few familiar songs of the season such as The Little Drummer Boy / Peace On Earth medley and Calypso Lullaby, but there will be several wonderful winter season songs that will probably be new to you .. Shepherds Pipe Carol (another beautiful John Rutter arrangement), Winter Fire and Snow (an Irish ballad), Let There Be Peace (gospel) and Joyful, Joyful (from the movie "Sister Act 2"). We’ll perform something old with Break Forth, O Beauteous Light by Bach. And something new with Music of the Night and The Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Weber. Something from a musical with Together Wherever We Go (from the musical "Gypsy" by Stephen Sondheim). And something from a spiritual with Over in the Gloryland (recorded by the Dukes of Dixieland). Something classic with Just One of Those Things by Cole Porter. And something pop with God Only Knows by the Beach Boys. You never really know what the Allegra Singers will be serving up next! Come and enjoy the chorus, the soloists, the small ensembles, the piano and more... And, once again, we've got a chance for you to sing along to a few your favourite carols to help you get into that Christmas spirit.
