KNOX UNITED BRINGS TRAVELLING ART INSTALLATION TO PARKSVILLE

WORKSHOPS & ART INSTALLATION - ALL BEINGS CONFLUENCE: A Celebration of All Living Things.

All Beings Confluence is an interactive community project that has emerged through the collaborative efforts of four prairie artists – Martha Cole, Madeleine Lepage, Fenella Temmerman, and Shannon Carson, with Cole continuing to foster and facilitate its presentation and expansion.

The art installation is comprised of sheer fabric panels, hung closely together. Upon each, there is an image of a living being - humans and other animals, flora and fungi, representing over 250 species thus far and created by numerous individuals. A salient metaphor for the wholeness, interdependence and self-organization of ecosystems, and indeed of all life on this planet, the pieces are arranged in such a way that we can never see a single Being without seeing others through or adjacent to it.

Anyone who wants to make a panel is invited to do so in one of our workshops and then these new panels will be integrated into the vast and ever-growing collection.

Part 1 - WORKSHOPS
Knox is offering two 4-day workshops where participants will have the opportunity to create a panel which can then become part of the touring art installation. Workshops will be held May 3-6 and May 10-13 from 10 am to 4 pm daily at Knox United Church, 345 Pym St in Parksville. Each workshop is limited to ten participants, so you will want to register through the church office as soon as possible. The workshop is $50 (some supplies included). To Register call 250-248-3927.

Part - 2 ART INSTALLATION
The panels will be on display and open to the public to experience on two Saturdays, May 7th & May 14th, from 1:00-3:00 pm. Admission is by donation. On the first Saturday, local Celtic Harpist, Patt Scrivener, will be playing, and the following week will be April Laurie from Nanaimo, using voice and percussion. Both musicians will enhance the experience of being with the art installation.
