Alice: a musical by Tom Waits

Theatre Inconnu’s production marks the Canadian premiere of this richly textured retelling of Lewis Carroll’s Alice stories. Both the music and script – as created by three towering artists – are exquisitely crafted. The jumping off point for this particular version of the story is the relationship between Lewis Carroll (Charles Dodgson) and his supposed inspiration for the story, Alice Liddell. A number of the more familiar episodes from the Alice stories are reworked and many of Lewis’ more outrageous characters are presented. Tom Waits is one of the most influential composer/performers of the 20th century, and continue to carve out new territory in the 21st. Local popular alternative band, The Party on High Street – who so dynamically contributed to Love Kills, the Musical (2010) – will provide musical accompaniment.
