WORKSHOP OVERVIEW

The workshops are held on the last weekend of each month. They consist of 2 full days from 9am to 4pm with and hour break at noon. The current cost of registration is $250 + GST and must be paid prior to the workshop. The sessions are held at the FAIRFIELD COMMUNITY PLACE CENTER in Victoria, British Columbia. Workshops have been conducted in remote locations such as the Gulf Islands, Metchosin, Quadra Island, Prince George, Camrose Alberta , Boone North Carolina and can be arranged in other locations based on the demand.
Since starting these workshops approx. 12 years ago, literally hundreds of people (60% beginners) have been through this 7-Step acrylic painting program, many of whom now are showing in galleries and juried shows on the west coast.
During those 12 years, I have culled out what I thought didn't work and reinforced principles and techniques that did. The workshop reflects much of what I have learned in my own painting career over the last 25 years. The primary focus of the workshop is placed on helping the painter to get out of the way and allow the painting to happen. It requires some courage and a lot of trust on the part of the participants, but the results have been truly amazing!
In 2004, I have published a book called "7-STEPS TO A SUCCESSFUL PAINTING"based on these workshops and have made it available in 3 formats on this site.

HOW LITTLE IS ASKED OF YOU!

"To do this course, you are NOT asked to create, invent, imagine, conjure up, fabricate or know anything. You are simply asked to DO the course step by step, as honestly and as faithfully as you can without skipping or combining steps, or adding anything to the instructions for each. Preliminary sketches, measuring, and drawing are NOT asked of you. If you are an experienced painter, you ARE asked to suspend all that you know or have learned in the past and just DO the course, without editing, questioning, or culling out what you don't like. Results are dependent on doing the simple steps in sequence and NOTHING ELSE!"
