This course will introduce students to the many ways to create abstract paintings including a focus on structure, geometry, gesture, the manipulated surface and sculptural forms. Diverse influences such as design, textile art, mark making, text, graffiti/street art, mapping and collage will be included in the discussion. Students will leave course with a broad knowledge of how to make abstract paintings that are both personal and visually dynamic.
