Thursday, April 16th, 2020
7:30 PM to 8:30 PM

Look through a window to the history of Victoria with this architectural exploration at Ross Bay Villa Historic House Museum. Each day we look out through windows, but seldom do we stop to think how different a modern 2020 window is compared to the windows of 150 years ago. Jim Stiven, member of the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals and founder of Vintage Woodworks, will speak on the history, evolution and mechanics of historic wooden windows with a special emphasis on the original fenestration at Ross Bay Villa. He will focus on the importance of conserving original windows as an integral element of any heritage building façade and will discuss ways in which thermal efficiency can be improved without sacrificing the vintage glazing in your home.
