A Jazzy Lunch in the Vineyard - A Fundraiser for Jeneece Place

Local jazz sensation Maria Manna has teamed up with the award wining local restaurant Amus� on the Vineyard for an afternoon of live jazz, delectable cuisine and great wine, all set amongst the back drop of Unsworth Vineyards. The jazz performance and lunch are the result of the combined efforts of Manna and Amuse to raise funds for Jeneece Place in Victoria.
Jeneece Place, a home away from home where families can stay while their children are receiving medical care at Victoria General Hospital or surrounding facilities, is the dream of Jeneece Edroff, who knows first hand the benefits of these types of facilities. Jeneece was diagnosed at age three with neurofibromatosis, a disease that has caused tumours to grow off every nerve ending in her spine. She has undergone thirteen surgeries and numerous chemotherapy sessions in Vancouver. From this experience, she knows how important it is for families to have a warm and supportive place to stay close to the hospital.
After needing the services of Jeneece Place when their daughter Sophia was born with a blood clot to the brain, Amus� owners Bradford and Leah Boivert, wanted to give back to such an important place in the community. Their first night at the �Place� had no room for them, so Leah�s father brought a converted bus to the �Place� and that�s where they slept while receiving all the other day benefits of Jeneece place. �You don�t even have time to think about your needs when you are in a crisis mode like we were in, but Jeneece place, presented us with a package for our personal needs. You hear about places like Jeneece place but you never think you will need them until you truly do. Jeneece place made a difficult time in our life more comfortable. We were fortunate to only need the services of Jeneece place for a short time, while many families are not so fortunate� said Bradford and Leah.
Amuse has been serving local food for 7 years now and realizes the importance of giving back. In speaking with Maria, Bradford and Leah learned that Maria knew Jeneece and has work with her on other fundraising events in the past making this event a perfect fit. Maria not only will be the MC and Auctioneer of the evening she will be performing some of her famous jazz solos with some of Vancouver Island�s best musicians!
