Directed by Sue Murguly, A Doll’s House opens at the Village Theatre, Qualicum Beach, April 21st.
Daring, unpredictable and charged with intrigue and intensity, Henrik Ibsen’s most famous play, A Doll’s House will be forever contemporary. Nora’s world seems ideal: beautiful children, elegant home, adoring husband. But her life is shot through with lies and delusion. When the truth bursts into the open, Nora is shocked to discover how radically her life has to change.
Ibsen took the world by storm with A Doll's House. He was way ahead of his time, in terms of both his style and his free-thinking individualism. Though the play is often pigeon-holed as a feminist manifesto, Ibsen denied it.
A Doll’s House, by Henrik Ibsen, translation and adaption by James McFarlane, benefits from a stellar group of actors. Jennifer Kelly plays the iconic role of Nora Helmer together with Steve Hill as Torvald Helmer. Joining them is a strong supporting cast: Charlie Whelton (Dr. Rank), Kerry Campbell (Kristine Linde), Daniel Lee Osleeb (Nils Krogstad) Jean Smith (Anne Marie), Judi Hipkin (Helene), Hope Myer (Ivar Helmer), and Imogen Brown (Bob Helmer).
This production will be ECHO Players 2016 North Island Zone Festival Entry.
