After 50 years of animating, promoting, advocating for and presenting arts activities in the Comox Valley, your regional Arts Council has embarked on its first online fundraising auction. Open for bidding until March 4!
Comox Valley Arts invites one and all to check out the terrific array of donated goods available. The council has been at the heart of arts development, there at the beginning of the Comox Valley Youth Music Centre (CYMC), Comox Valley Art Gallery, Vancouver Island Musicfest, Sid Williams Theatre, the CV’s designation as Cultural Capital of Canada, the CV Poet Laureate, the Muir Gallery, and many more.
Our mission is to animate the arts in the Comox Valley by ‘acting as a resource for the arts community; informing the public about the arts; and celebrating the Comox Valley as an arts-producing centre’. The arts play a hugely important role in the Valley’s vitality, now known Canada-wide. Your contribution will work towards keeping the Arts in the Comox Valley flourishing.
We work hard to help local artists grow their audience, to bring visitors to the valley by promoting the creative work and events that happen here, to advocate for public arts policy that will enrich and enhance our daily lives, and to collaborate with our local creative community to foster a rich, diverse cultural scene for everyone to enjoy.
How can you help? Bid on some of the Valley’s favourite festival and theatre experiences - Atmosphere Gathering, Filberg Summer Concerts and Courtenay Little Theatre; a ride on the UChuck, a private concert by Café Ole in your own home, or a full production 80's dance party! Plus Victoria theatre events like UNO Fest and The Little Prince... As it’s a fundraiser for Comox Valley Arts, we have beautiful work donated by many of our members – paintings, prints, garden art and more. Original work from Gail Neuls, FitzyLou’s Makery, Martha Jablonski-Jones, Jim Morris, Josh Klassen, Dorothy Walker, Karen Day and Material Creative, prints from Tracy Kobus and Elissa Anthony, textile pieces by Kathy Klassen Sassenach Cowls, all-weather garden art from Empurpled Wares and a glass-fusing workshop with Fireworx Glass.
Ever wanted to learn how to sew? Bid with a friend in mind for a class for two from The Spool. Or take a team-building adventure at Crypt-tic Escape Room! Plus gift certificates to popular restaurants like Atlas, Fluid, Yiamas & Prime Chop House, a starter package for the enterprising entrepreneur from #LiFT/weareYQQ, and printing services at Sure Copy.
Bulk out your library with Second Page Books and Blue Heron Books, and start those long-planned guitar lessons with a new Epiphone from Long & McQuade. The item list is growing as we go, so it’s fun to check in each day and see what’s new.
Comox Valley Arts is very grateful to the always-generous businesses who help so many non-profits thrive and do good work.
