3rd Clan Torchlight Ceremony

On May 16, 2014 the Annual Clan Torchlight Ceremony will take place at the Legislature Grounds to acknowledge those clans involved in the 151st Victoria Highland Games & Celtic Festival during the next two days (May 17 and 18) at Topaz Park.

Starting at the front of the Legislature Buildings at 8 pm, the Games duty pipe band (LA Scots, the top Grade 1 pipeband in the USA) will perform in front of the Legislature steps. Following the performance, clan representatives will announce their clan�s presence at the Games and received a lit torch. Each clan representative will take their torch onto the Legislature lawns where, collectively, they will form a Scottish Saltire. Once the clan representatives are finished, the Games duty pipe band will finish the ceremony off with a short performance.

Twenty clans participated in the 2013 Torchlight Clan Ceremony. Any clans interested in the 2014 ceremony are invited to contact Jim at [email protected] for more information. All citizens of Scottish background are invited to attend the ceremony wearing their tartan and support the Clans! This is a free event open to the public.
