The 2019 Regional Research Conference, entitled Understanding our Biosphere Region: Collaborating on Initiatives for Sustainability, will bring together individuals conducting research projects or initiatives related to the three pillars of sustainability -- Economic, Environmental, and Social and Cultural -- within the Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere Region and surrounding areas.
Through three keynote presenters (Dr. Amanda Wager, Mark Holland, and Dr. Isobel Pearsall), breakout sessions involving over 30 local researchers, and poster series, join us as we learn about the research occurring in our own backyards. This event will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with local researchers and professionals and to find ways how you may get involved with their initiatives.
The Regional Research Conference will be hosted from June 13 to 14, 2019 at the Parksville Community Centre. All fees include breakfast and lunch both days, in addition to a Gala dinner on June 13. Fees are $100 (or $75 for students and youth).
A Traditional Plant Workshop will also be offered on June 12 for an additional $20. Join a panel of experts, including Dr. Nancy Turner, Kim Recalma, and Les Malbon, as they teach about the traditional knowledge of native plants and how to make a traditional plant-based medicine.
