A & W in Lake Cowichan is revving up for their Annual Show & Shine on Sunday, September 8th, 2019! To commemorate the Town of Lake Cowichan's 75th Anniversary, A&W will be joined by the 75th & Beyond Society and Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit to create an extra special event for car and motorbike enthusiasts. Amber Battie, Co-Owner of the A & W in the Town of Lake Cowichan is getting excited with all the new additions for this year's event. "We have opened up the show this year for Hot Rods, Classics, Vintage, Rat Rods, and Bikes. We are looking forward to a great turnout. A special feature of this year’s show, is a unique opportunity for show entrants to learn more about the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit. Vehicles can register at the Circuit, stage in the parking area, then be given a rare opportunity to take a 'LAP of Honour' around the track before departing by cavalcade down Highway 18 and into the Town of Lake Cowichan to A & W for the show. We're encouraging the public to bring a lawn chair and watch the cavalcade as it comes into Lake Cowichan at can approximately 10:45am." Paul Jordan, President of the 75 and Beyond Society, and co-host for this year's event adds, " it's great to see a local business like Arlene Vanderhoven of Swordfern Boutique here at the lake jump on board to bring the Vancouver Island Pin Up Girls and iconic BC artist Jimmy Cummins aka I, Braineater to host the “Greasy Gears and Girls with Curls” Art Show at her store as an added attraction to the Show & Shine activities. Entrants registered will also have an opportunity to have a photo taken with the VIP Pin Up Girls and their vehicle by a professional photographer, Malcolm Chalmers for a small fee." Amber adds, "the band Hell Katz is performing beginning at noon and joining in the fun will be the Brass Knuckle Derby Dames from the Cowichan Valley Roller Derby Association who will be cruising the A&W parking lot.
