Each year in February, the city of Victoria is transported to the steamy dance halls, opera houses and chiche underground clubs of Paris in the Roaring Twenties and Dirty Thirties. The Victoria Django Festival heats up the city with the best in exotic flavours of music all weekend, and a night of fine dining for Valentine's Day.

This year's line-up features the return of 2015 favourites The Gonzalo Bergara Quartet, as well as Hedgehog Swing, both fom sunny California. Vancouver's Deanna Knight & The Hot Club of Mars and Victoria locals the Tree Top Trio round out the local talent. Performance dance troupe Seaside Swing and circus performer Jack West will dazzle and delight, adding variety and authenticity to the festival weekend.

As previous years, the weekend kicks off with Friday night at White Eagle Hall, with two levels of music; the upper chandelier-lit Dance Hall and the lower Speakeasy. Saturday night's Main Event is also a double header with the Opera House Stage (concert-style) in St. Andrews Church and Hot Club (dance party) in the Kirk Hall.

A stayed tradition of the Victoria Django Festival, all the events are stocked with delicious nibbles and quenching libations from local sponsors Hoyne Brewery, The Whole Beast, and Pizzeria Prima Strada, as well as dance competitions hosted each night by The Swing Dance Association of Victoria, with prizes valued up to $200.

Concluding the event is a special French-inspired Valentine's Day dinner by Northern Quarter, paired with international headliner The Gonzalo Bergara Quartet. There is no more romantic way to spend Valentine's than in one of Victoria's best restaurants and some of the world's best Djangologists. Tickets include a gourmet meal and the concert, and are available at the same outlets as other festival events. Guests may call the reservation number on the ticket to arrange for the 5:30pm or 8:00pm seating in advance.
