Mark September 10th down on your calendars for Tweed Ride Victoria. The ride will start at the legislative grounds and end with tea at Beacon Hill Park.
Just like last year adult tickets are $10, and children under 12 are free, and we have a limit of 350 attendees, be they young or old.
This year’s Ride is fundraising event for Bicycles for Humanity, our local action group, to assist in their effort to send a container-load of bikes to Namibia. Here is their site for more detailed information about their most worthy endeavors – http://www.bicycles-for-humanity.org/Victoria/index.php
What is Tweed Ride?
Tweed Rides are a worldwide phenomena, started in London in the fall of 2009 as The Tweed Run London. The organizers thought that it would be fun to have a slower-paced “cosmopolitan ride with a bit style”. So they dressed in tweeds, rode their bikes through London streets and raised money for bicycles for Bicycles for Humanity.
Twee Ride Victoria is a group bicycle ride through the centre of Victoria, in which the cyclists are encouraged to dress in classic tweed or any smart looking outfit. Any effort made to recreate the spirit of a bygone era is also always appreciated. Any and all bicycles are acceptable on the Tweed Ride. For more information, go to http://www.tweedridevictoria.ca/
