You are invited to a presentation by Aimee Greenaway, Interpretive Curator with the Nanaimo Museum, on Fraser Street: Nanaimo’s “Red Light District” from the 1890s to 1920s.
The Summit will heighten heritage awareness in the community during Provincial Heritage Week (February 16-22), and highlight the work of the many local organizations interested in heritage issues. Similar in format to past Summits, the event will be separated into two parts. The first part will the presentation on Nanaimo's first red light district with the remainder of the evening devoted to a roundtable discussion between organizations in attendance. Each organization’s representative will have up to 5 minutes to share information about their mandate, recent accomplishments and upcoming projects. We hope the information shared will lead to greater coordination of efforts amongst Nanaimo’s heritage-minded community.
Everyone is welcome to attend. If you, or a member of your organization would like to participate in the 2015 Heritage Summit, please contact the Culture & Heritage Department at 250-755-4483 or [email protected] to advise who will attend. Please provide this information prior to Friday, 2015-FEB-13.
