Halloween is an exciting event for family fun and entertainment at the BC Forest Discovery Centre. Over the years, the Halloween Train has quickly become a family favourite for members and visitors from all over the Island. According to BC Forest Discovery Centre’s Manager, Chris Gale, “The Halloween Train has become so popular that we have had to expand to 7 nights this year of thrills, chills and fun madness to accommodate all the visitors that arrive from far and wide to our community".

The volunteers and staff are already getting ready behind the scenes. “In addition to putting out haunted displays from previous years, we add new displays and activities, and we're thrilled that we have some exciting additions to this year's spooky event” So even if you think they couldn’t make it better than the previous year…. they always do!

Performing actors will be wandering throughout the park and adding to the spook and making the haunted areas come alive. Get in the Halloween spirit with musical performances by Andy McCormick and Shelley Vaags from the Smiley Sisters who will have kids and parents both singing along to some Halloween favorites.

Activities each evening include crafts in the schoolhouse, train rides, and trick or treat stations for the little ones. There will be lots of hot chocolate, coffee and hot food available to purchase so you can even sit back, watch the fun and enjoy the fire pits. In the event of rain, not to worry as so many events and displays are indoors and the ‘Halloween Train’ is covered. A complimentary shuttle will be offered by Bow Mel again this year for those parking in the Rona parking lot, located at the Cowichan Commons Mall on the Island Highway opposite the BC Forest Discovery Centre.

Also of note and newsworthy Chris Gale adds "are the advance ticket sales to both speed up the admission line each night and offer a savings to families attending. Advance tickets are available only in Duncan with two locations; at the Customer Service counter at Save On Foods in Duncan, and at the new Cowichan Visitors Info Centre located in our parking lot here at the Centre. Advance buyers and BC Forest Discovery Centre Season Pass holders will have their own line to expedite entrance on each night. The fun starts this year beginning at 3:30pm when the doors open with the last haunted train leaving the station at 8:30pm each night".

The BC Forest Discovery Centre suggests that parents bring toddlers and sensitive children during the early hours. Train rides start at 4pm and run every half hour. There will be lots of volunteer staff to assist you any questions or locations of activities.
