The City of Nanaimo is the selected host for the "2012 AAC National Dog Agility Championships", August 3rd to 5th, 2012. An estimated 600 qualifying teams from across Canada and the U.S. are competing for the title of Canadian Agility Champion. This prestigious event provides the highest level of competition and is a stepping stone to qualify for the World Championships, to be held next year in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Beban Park's sports grounds will be transformed into 9 competition rings, with Canada's top dogs running 6 different competitive events. All course designs are hidden and secret until construction. Further testing skill and ability in our champion teams. (obstacles include: jumps, teeter, weave poles, tunnels, etc.) The winning team is selected through the accumulation of points combined over the entire event.
Bernadette van Klaveren, event chairperson says: "In the sport of dog agility, a team consists of a dog and handler. Teams have trained extensively in order to negotiate the obstacle course at top speed. Time and accuracy are the determining factor for success".
Our volunteer team of experienced and dedicated dog sport enthusiasts invite Sponsors and Volunteers to participate. (no experience necessary. Sign up on our website.)
*We always exhibit safety and high regard for our dogs*
