The Garden City Grooves music festival is a celebration of funk, soul and groove music. If James Brown, Fela Kuti or Marvin Gaye were around today, they�d be dancing at this festival. Truly, the soul-inspiring and booty-shakin� essence of Motown is fully realized with the acts playing at this year�s festival. Whether it�s the 10-piece afrobeat sensation from Vancouver, Miami Device, the instrumental virtuoso from Argentina, Gabriel Palatchi, or local retro-soul heroes from Victoria, The Chantrelles, each band has its own brand of musical beauty with one uniting factor � the groove; music that makes you move. The festival also boasts a few DJs, including the The Truth Soundsystem , that will be spinning the best in rare soul from their incredible collection of vinyl records. Their monthly event, For Dancers Only (also part of GCG�s first night) has become a must-attend event for crate-diggers and funk addicts alike. These are just a few of this year�s acts. We�re proud to be working with ten acts and four venues for this year�s festival!
