It’s a troubling trend: women are catching up with men in terms of alcohol consumption, despite strong evidence that the adverse health effects of alcohol are much more dangerous to women. Ann Dowsett Johnston (author of the bestseller Drink: The Intimate Relationship Between Women and Alcohol) explores the role of marketing, campus culture, and socio-economic pressures influencing the way in which women drink. Her aim: to jumpstart a national dialogue on a public health challenge. A panel discussion on women, alcohol and BC’s changing alcohol policy will follow.
