This exciting musical journey shows the true versatility of 18th century music and instruments, treating listeners to sensual French Baroque music, Johann Sebastian Bach’s masterful trio sonata BWV 1039, whimsical works by his sons, Carl Philip and Wilhelm Friedemann, and the joyful writing of Joseph Haydn. The concert is also a celebration of the beautiful blend of two Baroque flutes and the vast repertoire written for various combinations of flute, cello and harpsichord.=0D=0A=

Victoria-based flutist Soile Stratkauskas will be joined by three prominent musicians from the West Coast Early Music scene across the border. Janet See is one of the leading Baroque flutists of our time, and appears on many recordings with the English Baroque Soloists under Sir John Elliot Gardiner. She currently lives on Bainbridge Island and is the principal flute of the Portland Baroque Orchestra and co-principal flute with Philharmonia Baroque in San Francisco. Seattle-based cellist Nathan Whittaker is familiar to Victorian audiences for his inspiring playing at the Pacific Baroque Festival in recent years. Harpsichordist Margret Gries is also an accomplished Baroque violinist and is a founding member of the Portland Baroque Orchesta and Seattle’s Pro Musica.=0D=0A=
