With Spring in the air and flowers blooming all around, Island Bel Canto Singers is pleased to present their upcoming concert, We Are Song, with Sinclair Singers as their special guest. Artistic Director of both choirs, Sharon Sinclair has chosen a delightful variety of songs for this concert that showcases the diverse range of musical skills among these singers and celebrates the uplifting power and beauty of music.
=0D=0A=Sinclair Singers is an award-winning youth and young adult choir, a talented and enthusiastic group that loves to sing a wide variety of styles from classical to contemporary and much of their repertoire is sung a cappella.
=0D=0A=Sharon Sinclair is well known in Nanaimo as a popular voice and piano teacher. In addition to being the director of Sinclair Singers and Island Bel Canto Singers, Sharon sings with the Island Consort Chamber Choir. A lifelong choral music lover, Sharon believes “singing in a group has a way of opening us up to many wonderful experiences, and is good for us on so many levels—emotionally, physically, spiritually. I can’t imagine a life without song.”
=0D=0A=Stefanie Unger, the choir’s accompanist, is a versatile collaborative pianist with a broad-ranging portfolio of vocal and instrumental works, and has worked with numerous choirs in Indiana, Eastern Europe, and Southern Ontario. She is pleased to be part of Nanaimo’s vibrant choral community as accompanist of Camerata Singers and Island Bel Canto Singers.
