DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:<p>From concept to final product, the artistry behind Canadian currency and stamps is on exhibit at the Nanaimo Museum.&nbsp; Travelling from Ottawa, Voices from the Engraver is from the Bank of Canada Museum in partnership with the Canadian Museum of History.&nbsp;</p>=0D=0A=
<p>The exhibit runs from September 12 to November 21.<br /><br />Voices from the Engraver features artifacts such as water colours, photos and drawings along with engraver&rsquo;s tools and printing plates used in the production of bank notes and stamps.&nbsp; &ldquo;This exhibit is an opportunity to see how the art we see every day in money and stamps is created,&rdquo; says Aimee Greenaway, Interpretation Curator at the Nanaimo Museum.&nbsp; &ldquo;We are pleased to bring this travelling exhibit to our community during its cross Canada tour.&rdquo;&nbsp; Voices from the Engraver also takes a peak behind the scenes and shows bank note and stamp designs that were not retained.<br />&nbsp;<br />Some unusual artifacts are featured in the exhibit.&nbsp; A Birds of Canada $1000 litho proof from 1988, artwork for the back of a 1954 $2 bill and a Scenes of Canada proposed back of a $2 bill from 1967.&nbsp; &ldquo;There is something for everyone in Voices from the Engraver,&rdquo; says Greenaway.&nbsp; &ldquo;Stamp and currency collectors, artists and anyone who has paused for a moment to look at the images on money and stamps will enjoy this exhibit.&rdquo;<br /><br />There is a workshop, Engraving Fit for a Queen, for homeschooling families with children ages 10-14 years.&nbsp; Students will learn about the art and technical processes behind stamps and currency.&nbsp; The workshop is on Wednesday, November 9 from 1:30-2:30.&nbsp; Pre-registration is required and the cost is $5 per student which includes museum admission for caregivers and younger siblings.&nbsp; Caregivers must be on-site at all times during the workshop.<br /><br />Voices from the Engraver opens September 12 and closes November 21.&nbsp; The museum is open Monday to Saturday from 10am-5pm.&nbsp;</p>=0D=0A=
