About Royal Canoe=0D=0A=
=0D=0A=
A six-piece ensemble from Winnipeg, Royal Canoe are akin to musical mad scientists who experiment by throwing elements of rock, pop, Afrobeat, funk, psychedelia, and hip-hop together in loose yet structured ways. The results have been electrifying, as what started out as an ad hoc band has quickly coalesced into one of the country’s most exciting and innovative groups. Fronted by vocalist/keyboardist/guitarist Matt Peters, these freewheeling indie-popsters feature layered arrangements, propulsively kinetic rhythms, and the kind of deliciously fat-bottomed beats that you get when you have two drummers. Their first full-length release, Today We’re Believers, got strong reviews.=0D=0A=

About Acres of Lions=0D=0A=
=0D=0A=
Not many local bands can match the level of success achieved by Victoria indie-popsters Acres of Lions. Radio-friendly and irresistibly upbeat, they have a knack for creating happy anthems that are full of sweet harmonies, skillful instrumentation, and hook-filled choruses. Right from their first CD, Working, they hit the sweet spot of emo-pop. Their third album, Home(s), came out a year ago, and is selling well as far away as Britain and Japan. With songs featured on TV shows like Degrassi, this alt-rock band has a big future. Jeff Kalesnikoff guitar/vocals, Tyson Yerex guitar/keyboards/vocals, Dan Ball bass, Shane Deyotte drums.
