After critically acclaimed performances to sell out audiences around the world, and a legion of Facebook fans - Australian comedic artist Jon Bennett comes to the Victoria Fringe with his legendary show of over 400 pretend cocks. A unique stand-up experience, Pretending Things Are A Cock is part photographic display, part pot-holed journey into the idiosyncratic world of Jon Bennett. The product of five years global wandering, Bennett presents a show which combines an artistic, phallic-themed photographic display with hilarious and heart-wrenching tales from his life, giving the audience an insight into the artist’s mind. Bennett’s ‘cocks’ range from ordinary household utensils, monuments around the world to weird and obscure objects. The show grew from an exhibition and art experiment that delved into the nature of masculinity and sex, but mainly exposes the interpretations of irony within society. Spawning a published book, PTAAC has now become a live event. Bennett is a 5x Just For Laughs Best comedy nominee in Montreal, he has performed at Just For Laughs Montreal, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, NZ International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe plus major festivals in Australia, US, Canada & Europe.
=0D=0A=

A gifted storyteller, this is Bennett’s first trip to the Victoria Fringe and will be performing in 10 festivals across the Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals this season. “Bennett is the patron saint of storytelling.” ★★★★★ Broadway Baby “Armed only with self-deprecating wit and memories, Bennett reminds us that ordinary people lead extraordinary lives.” ★★★★★ - The Sunday Mail (AUS) “Bennett is a joy to watch. This is bold, honest, engaging and different to a lot of standard comedy on offer.” ★★★★★ Fringe Guru “It took me several minutes to regain my hearing after the show, not from Bennett's delivery but from the level of laughter the packed crowd generated.” ★★★★ The West Australia
