DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:<p>Joe Stanton is a singer/songwriter and acoustic fingerstyle guitarist. Joe has performed in the U.S. National finger picking championships and was a finalist in the Kerrville Folk Festival&rsquo;s New Folk songwriting contest.<br /><br />Joe&rsquo;s philosophy of playing wherever they&rsquo;ll listen has taken him and his Martin D28, on a 30 year journey from his favorites haunts in his home on the Sunshine coast, to a concert in a hot air balloon over the Swiss Alps, to the Kerrville Folk festival in the hill country of Texas, to the world fingerpicking championships in Winfield Kansas.<br />Joe&rsquo;s acoustic guitar style has been likened to his heroes, Leo Kottke, Chet Atkins, Bruce Cockburn, and his songwriting has resulted in 4 cd&rsquo;s, styles ranging from Bluegrass, to contemporary folk, to alt country, all receiving radio airplay in Canada, the US , Europe and Australia, and 2 vinyl singles in the 1980&rsquo;s earning 2 BCCMA award nominations.<br /><br />Over the years Joe has performed all over Canada, The U.S. and Europe. Highlights include performing for the Olympic Torch Relay, A week long cross Canada trip on VIA Rail&rsquo;s artist on Board program, The Kerrville Folk festival in Texas, the Island folk festival in Duncan, and He has been chosen for the Vancouver Province&rsquo;s Playlist 3 times.<br /><br />Joe is always working on the next recording project, <em>Vintage</em> is a compilation of favorite songs from all of his releases, along with a few new solo guitar instumentals and was released June 30 2012.<br /><br /><em>Good Road Home</em> is the 2014 debut release for the duo Stanton Paradis. <a href="http://www.joestanton.com">http://www.joestanton.com</a><br /><br />____________<br />Our feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victoria&rsquo;s best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evening&rsquo;s line-up.</p>
