DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:The summer of 2014 marks the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War, and the Maritime Museum is offering you a chance to explore Victoria’s role in the conflict from the comfort of a luxury coach.  This historian-led guided tour will transport you to some of the key locations in the city’s mobilization and home front efforts.  Learn about the famous anti-German riots of 1915, the cavalry and infantry training grounds, home defense efforts, the role of Victoria’s nursing sisters, Canadian Prohibition and the individual stories of local people whose lives were forever changed by the terrible conflict overseas.=0D=0A=

The final hour of the tour will be a stop at historic Spinnaker’s Gastropub where one of their staff will lead the informal conversation by providing a history of Spinnakers and brewing in Victoria along with introductions to the beers and accompanying appies being tasted as well as the stories behind the farmers and artisan producers who turn the locally sourced foods into value added products such as artisan cheeses, charcuterie, and preserves.=0D=0A=

The tour will assemble no later than 12:45 at the doors of the Museum for check-in, and then depart Wharf Street promptly at 1pm.  The bus will return the group to Wharf street no later than 4:30pm.=0D=0A=
