Maple Blues Awards nominee Steve Kozak and his band bring their unique brand of electric blues to the V Lounge, Red Lion Hotel on Saturday March 11, 2017 – which coincides with the tenth anniversary of the Victoria Blues Society.
=0D=0A=“The Victoria Blues Society is looking forward to a great night of music,” said society chair, Deb Rhymer. “It’s hard to believe 10 years have already gone by since we started our society – and it’s amazing to think of the wonderful performers we have hosted and showcased to Victoria, including Steve Kozak.”
=0D=0A=Vancouver-born Kozak has been a mainstay on the western Canadian Blues scene since the mid-eighties. Backed by his some of Vancouver’s top musicians, he has built a reputation as one of Canada’s premier blues acts and is known as the ‘go-to guy’ in Vancouver for the west coast blues sound.
=0D=0A=Kozak has been winning over fans performing his up-tempo brand of jump, swing and working man’s blues to enthusiastic audiences throughout the Pacific Northwest and western Canada. Gaining national recognition in 2013, Kozak won Canada’s prestigious Maple Blues Award for New Artist or Group of the Year. In March, Kozak will be releasing a brand new CD — The Steve Kozak Band... IT'S TIME! Recorded in Vancouver at Afterlife Studios, site of the famed Mushroom Records, the album – Kozak’s fourth – is produced and mixed by award winning composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Matthew Rogers.
=0D=0A=The Steve Kozak Band also features Dave Webb on keyboards, Roger Brant on bass and John Nolan on drums. Opening for the Steve Kozak Band is the Ole Johnson Band.
