You're invited to the VIU Nanaimo Campus Open House! If you’ve never taken the time to visit your home-town University on the green slopes overlooking Nanaimo’s Harbour, mark your calendar!
=0D=0A=The entire community is invited to come learn about all the amazing things VIU has to offer – not just for students, but for everyone in the community. Whether you are in high school, retired or a family with kids in tow, drop by the Open House and students, staff faculty and VIU ambassadors will warmly welcome you and make you feel right at home.
=0D=0A=Make the VIU Expo in the Upper Cafeteria your first stop, an all day event that will feature displays and interactive activities by more than 60 VIU departments, faculties and service areas.
=0D=0A=Curious about all the exciting Bachelor or Masters degree programs, certificate or Trades programs, or Professional Development & Training opportunities at VIU? At the VIU Expo, you'll get all your questions answered, and find out how easy it is to start or return to school! You'll also find out about cool community engagement activities such as free public lectures, free film series, free Lunch & Learn Lecture Series, and free Arts & Humanities Colloquium sessions, and so much more. Staff will also be on hand to tell you all about ElderCollege programs for people 50 plus, GrandKids University, and the exciting public events at the Deep Bay Marine Field Station and Milner Gardens and Woodland. Stop by the Welcome Centre to view the magnificent Ceremonial Convocation Suite. While you're there, enjoy an Open House cupcake and mingle with some of the staff who work at VIU.
=0D=0A=In addition to the VIU Expo, several faculties and departments will host Open House activities within their own areas around campus. For example, at VIU's Open House you can: * Come face to face with a giant prehistoric sturgeon in the International Centre for Sturgeon Studies * Discover VIU's best kept secret in the Museum of Natural History *Build a birdhouse in the Carpentry shop *Hear faculty and students read from some of their books in the Arts & Humanities Faculty *Visit the Nursing Simulation lab and meet 'Frankenstein', the robotic patient VIU's Open House is proudly sponsored by Coast Capital Savings.
